What’s your favorite part of this job?
Working with clients and delivering results. Social media is fast-paced and a challenge to prove ROI for our clients. I am very competitive and like to win, and this extends to my clients. On the Splash Media U™ side, I love offering value to those who are interested in starting a career in social media. What better place than to share our knowledge than via social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, blogging and YouTube! That’s how I landed the job I have today and learned the business!
Fill us in on your day-to-day activities.
I am constantly strategizing better ways to get my clients results based on analyzing data received after initiating our social media campaigns. Typically, I am researching content to write better blogs, responding to feedback on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and my clients’ blogs. Finally, I am thinking of new ways to leverage new social environments in order to share best practices to the world through Splash Media U!
What did you do before you entered the social media arena?
I have worked in starting and developing businesses since the start of my career by focusing on sales and marketing. I started building a business marketing to real estate agencies, using Internet technology to improve processes and more easily get our product in front of decision makers. I then went into the world of newspaper advertising sales, which evolved into digital advertising, which in turn resulted in my passion and interest into using social media marketing to get results for small business.
What made you decide to go into social media?
The idea that I had an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of one of the greatest marketing changes to hit business since the advent of TV advertising. I love entrepreneurship and using social media as an effective marketing tool felt like the wild, wild, west. I am attracted to the new and unknown and then making systems that scale and work!
What do you do in your spare time? (Or what’s your favorite hobby?)
In my spare time, even though it’s related to my job, I love to read blogs on business, social media and technology. Beyond reading blogs, I love spending time with my wife and kids. My wife is my sounding board and I can attribute my initial passion in social media to her suggesting I look at Twitter to market my newspaper advertising clients. She also tipped me off on Pinterest, and look how that is taking off? I really owe all my success to her support!
What are new social media trends are you anticipating in the near future?
I think we will see more convergence between traditional everyday sales and marketing, and internal processes and communication and the rise of social media. Social business, where all things are done in a social environment becomes closer and closer every day. Beyond creating social business, I see new software and technologies appear that allow us to better manage social media technology as well as allow us to prove better ROI in order to shape better strategies and technologies.
